One Bead At A Time
As a metaphor for life, my beading mantra of “one bead at a time” allows me to recognize and accept life’s challenges as they present themselves to me. When I am beading, as in deep meditation, I find myself drawn into the river of peace. The moment that I am distracted by outside influences, the beads begin to instruct me that I am no longer present and that my mind has wandered by finding myself in a network of knots or a counting error in my beadwork. It is at this time that I am able to step back and say “aha!”….those teeny tiny little wonders have taught me yet another lesson in presence! I gently nudge myself back into deep concentration and again lose the world around me to the creative river which flows within me, reminding myself that beadwork is a learning experience for me in the mindful art of being present.
Each bead becomes a “present” of “presence”.
